Technical Assistance and Training Specialist

Reporting to the Senior Training Manager you will:
- Acquire and maintain certification as a home visiting model-specific core trainer and/or doula trainer.
- Acquire and advance expertise in modalities of learning, model development and methods of consultation and technical assistance for supervisors of direct service staff and providers of outcome oriented early childhood and family support services. Schedule, conduct and document technical assistance provided to programs.
- Develop and facilitate training as related to OI audience needs and areas of professional expertise.
- Coordinate and support event planning with co-trainers to ensure development of working agendas, assistance with presentation outlines, design and content focus, development of appropriate pre and post training methods and activities. Collaborate with Division staff to review, develop and update models of training follow- up and technical assistance to program supervisors and staff.
- Assist in the development of methods for improving technical assistance in the areas of program design, model fidelity, home visiting, parent group meetings, developmental screening and case management, or other specific program areas.
- Contribute to content and design of event related correspondence, training handbook, certification materials and reports.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood, Family Studies, Social Work, Human Services, Education or other related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years as a home visiting supervisor or home visitor.
- Early Head Start, Healthy Families America, Baby TALK and/or Parents as Teachers program experience required.
- Home visiting or home visiting supervision experience necessary and doula expertise desired.
- Working knowledge of adult learning styles, issues in staff development and supervision strategies.
- Must have foundational understanding of home visiting, infant and early childhood development and adolescent development.
- Experience in reviewing documentation and providing feedback to program leaders.
Intermediary computer literacy with word processing software. - Ability to design, plan, and provide competency based training, consultation and technical assistance.
- Work independently on site and collaboratively in a team environment to coordinate planning, training content, logistics and technical assistance.
- Travel independently in diverse communities across Illinois as necessary with some overnight stays required (up to 30%).
- Must have organizational skills sufficient to effectively manage multiple events and training projects simultaneously which are in various stages of development and implementation.
- Ability to promote and maintain effective internal and external communication among a diverse group of staff, consultants and sites.
- Must have foundational understanding of prevention of child abuse and neglect, child and adolescent development.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have ongoing access to an insured vehicle.
- Experience with culturally diverse staff and populations.
