Collection Development & Mill Coordination

For many decades, the Scalamandré weaving in New York City, manufactured the finest, most luxurious and exquisitely crafted mill, based fabrics, trimmings and wallpapers for the best-dressed interiors in America. Scalamandré continues to showcase its iconic designs today, as well as exciting new introductions that reflect the most current design and color trends in modern interiors.
Throughout its history and to this day, Scalamandré has been called upon by many of America’s most extraordinary properties. Historic restoration and cultural commissions number well over a thousand. Responsibilities
Collection Development & Mill Coordination
- Administrative Support: Assist the design team with administrative work needed for new collection development, including creating budget and line sheets.
- Mill Correspondence: Correspond directly with mills for development updates and required specification information.
- Order Processing: Assist in completing new goods order forms and all information necessary for new item creation.
- Sample Ordering: Order 2-yard cuts of all new product for studio CFA’s (Cutting for Approval).
- Logistics: Assist in shipping packages to mills or elsewhere, as needed.
- Product Setup: Assist in setting up new product for ordering.
- Sample Management: Handle the cutting and labeling of samples, and assist in keeping all samples neatly organized in the studio by collection or product type.
- Sample Books: Assist in creating the spreadsheets and physical samples needed for new sample books.
- Photo Shoot Logistics: Develop spreadsheets for required photo shoot materials. Assist the marketing department with requesting photo shoot product from the mills, maintaining regular follow-up and tracking.
- Media Prep: Assist with gathering and preparing materials needed for press previews and marketing team initiatives.
- Experience: 1 years of experience in an administrative support, showroom, or studio coordinator role is preferred (strong internship experience will be considered).
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Interior Design, Textiles, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Project Management: Must be able to keep track of, prioritize, and follow up on multiple projects at the same time.
- Work Style: Must be exceptionally neat, well-organized, and a self-starter with a general willingness to pitch in and do whatever is needed to get things done.
- Design Interest: A love of interior design, textiles, and design in general is a big plus.
- Core Software Proficiency: Must be highly adept at Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat for editing PDFs.
- Spreadsheet Management: Creating and updating advanced Excel spreadsheets is a strict requirement for this role.
- Design Software (Optional): While this is not a design position, familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop is a desirable plus, though not mandatory.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, with a strong ability to review and proofread your own work as well as the work of others.
- Proactive Organization: The ability to maintain order, handle physical sample logistics, and seamlessly track moving parts in a high-energy creative studio environment.
