THE POSITION
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ink Room Technician to support our press operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in commercial printing, color theory, and ink preparation. This role is critical to ensuring consistent, high-quality print output and requires someone who is technically adept, quality-focused, and organized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and mix inks according to job specifications using proprietary color-matching methods.
- Utilize a computerized color database and tracking system to maintain accurate ink formulas.
- Match color samples using standardized color theory principles and precise measurement tools.
- Maintain inventory levels and monitor ink shelf life.
- Work closely with press operators and production staff to ensure color accuracy and job readiness.
- Clean and maintain ink room equipment and tools in accordance with safety and operational standards.
- Accurately label and store mixed inks and ensure traceability.
- Follow all Standard Printing safety and quality protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a commercial printing environment, preferably in ink or color management.
- Knowledge of color theory, color matching, and ink mixing techniques.
- Basic computer knowledge for data entry and tracking.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to production schedules.
