What You'll Be Doing
The Process Improvement Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across all manufacturing and fulfillment processes. This role leads high-impact Lean and Six Sigma initiatives designed to reduce waste, increase throughput, strengthen quality, and improve the customer experience.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives on the shop floor, partnering directly with operators, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to observe processes, identify opportunities, and implement measurable, sustainable improvements. This role serves as a technical expert, project leader, coach, and change agent across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement Leadership
- Lead, plan, and execute Lean and Six Sigma improvement initiatives across production, fulfillment, quality, and support functions.
- Utilize DMAIC, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, 5S, and other CI methodologies to identify root causes and drive measurable and sustainable improvements.
- Develop, monitor, and report KPIs that support operational performance, productivity, quality, and cost-reduction targets.
- Sustain and continuously build upon the current operational gains established across Stahls’ Transfer Express.
Hands-On Operational Engagement
- Spend significant time on the production floor (50% ), partnering with supervisors, operators, engineering, maintenance, and QA.
- Observe workflows, collect data, validate improvements, and ensure standard work is followed.
- Facilitate cross-functional daily/weekly operational reviews and guide teams in structured problem-solving.
Project Management & Execution
- Manage multiple improvement projects simultaneously, delivering measurable results on time and within scope.
- Support layout optimization, equipment capacity evaluations, workflow redesign, and process validation.
- Document processes, create SOPs/standard work, and ensure training and sustainment.
Coaching & Training
- Coach leaders and operators in Lean fundamentals, Six Sigma tools, and daily CI discipline.
- Deliver internal training sessions and build CI capability across the organization.
- Promote grassroots improvement and empower teams to identify and implement ideas.
Quality & Compliance Support
- Partner with the Quality team to improve process controls, error-proofing, and product reliability.
- Support external quality reduction efforts and drive adherence to customer, league, and regulatory standards.
Cross-Site Collaboration
- Collaborate with U.S. and global facilities as needed to share best practices, support audits, and advance standardization.
Required Qualifications
What we are looking for:
- A minimum of 8 years of process improvement experience in manufacturing, fulfillment, or related industrial operation.
- Demonstrated success leading Lean/Six Sigma projects that delivered quantifiable improvements.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI, etc.).
- Hands-on, floor-focused mindset with ability to influence at all levels.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and change management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Operations Management, Business, or similar field.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- Experience in printing, digital manufacturing, converting, or related industries.
- Experience in multi-site operations and standardized CI frameworks.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and navigating manufacturing environments.
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Frequent presence on shop floor (50% or more).
- Occasional travel (up to 10%) to support other sites, audits, or training sessions.
