The team operates out of a newly renovated, modern headquarters in Chicago Western Suburbs, IL featuring a high-end employee breakroom and premium amenities.
The Finance Department was newly established in 2025 to centralize North American operations. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager to help build and finalize the department's core functions. This role is a unique hybrid of U.S.-based financial administration and strategic corporate planning, acting as a critical bridge between local operations and the international parent company.
The organization operates with a highly localized corporate culture; notably, there are fewer than ten Japanese speakers across the entire company, and they maintain a structure without traditional expatriate placements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Banking & Relationship Management: Manage various bank accounts and build professional relationships with banking representatives.
- External Presentations: Prepare high-level financial presentations for banks and other external stakeholders.
- Budgeting & Analysis: Lead the formulation of annual budgets and perform monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis for U.S. and Canadian operations.
- Strategic Planning: Support the development of mid-term business plans and oversee KPI management for the North American region.
- M&A Support: Provide analytical support during business acquisitions, including involvement in valuation calculations and deal logistics.
- Reporting: Facilitate reporting to the parent company, primarily via email correspondence in Japanese.
- Communication: Participate in occasional evening online meetings with the parent company in Japan and travel within the U.S. and Canada as required by the business.
Qualifications
Required
- Full professional fluency in Japanese (reading/writing) and business-level proficiency in English are required.
- Ability to thrive in a highly localized, fast-paced corporate culture where English is the standard language of daily operations.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professional Japanese business standards and etiquette for high-level international reporting to Japanese stakeholders..
- A proactive mindset with the ability to help establish new departmental processes.
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to the Chicagoland area.
- Ability to work in-person five days a week at the office.
Preferred
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience in corporate planning or financial analysis. (While prior finance experience is valued, the organization is open to candidates with strong academic backgrounds and the right aptitude for financial growth.)
