Finance Director

We’re looking for an experienced Finance Director for a manufacturing client of ours in the Greater Ann Arbor, MI area. This role will serve as the primary finance leader for the facility, overseeing all plant-level accounting and finance activities while partnering closely with plant leadership and reporting to the executive finance leadership team at the corporate parent company.

This is a full-time, direct-hire, on-site opportunity in the Greater Ann Arbor, MI area.

What You Will Be Doing

• Serve as the finance leader for the manufacturing facility, overseeing day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and plant controlling activities.
• Manage and develop one Senior Accountant, providing guidance, oversight, and support across the plant accounting function.
• Lead the plant’s budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and monthly reporting processes.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Analyze plant financial performance and provide insights into costs, margins, profitability, productivity, and operational trends.
• Partner closely with the Plant Manager and operational leadership to support business decisions and improve overall plant performance.
• Prepare and communicate financial results, forecasts, risks, and opportunities to plant and corporate leadership.
• Report directly to the finance leadership team of the corporate parent company and ensure plant reporting aligns with corporate requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.

What We Need From You

To be considered for this role, candidates should have the following experience and skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience within a manufacturing environment and/or in public accounting with manufacturing clients.
• Experience leading or supporting budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, and financial reporting processes.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to manage and develop accounting staff.
