What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at StaffBright?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Buyer to join our client’s team in Novi, MI (fully on-site). In this role, you will be responsible for managing direct purchasing activities within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. You will support production and program needs by sourcing components, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials that meet cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage direct purchasing activities for assigned commodity areas within an automotive manufacturing environment
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery performance, and capability
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to support cost reduction and program objectives
- Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and alignment with production requirements
- Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure uninterrupted production flow
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support new product launches and engineering changes
- Resolve supply chain issues, including shortages, non-conformances, and delivery delays
- Support cost savings initiatives and identify opportunities for supplier consolidation or optimization
- Maintain accurate purchasing data, reports, and documentation within ERP/MRP systems
- Participate in supplier meetings, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
What We Need From You
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field
- 2–8 years of direct purchasing experience, preferably within the automotive manufacturing industry
- Strong experience with direct materials procurement (metal, plastic, components, or similar automotive commodities preferred)
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing workflows in a manufacturing environment
- Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills

Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
