The Security Department plays an essential role in creating safe, respectful, and welcoming environments across Father Joe’s Villages campuses. Through proactive presence, thoughtful engagement, and responsive action, the team supports the well-being of clients, staff, and visitors while modeling professionalism and sound judgment in every interaction.
The Role
As a Security Officer II, you serve as a leader within the Security team, helping ensure safe, respectful, and secure environments across Father Joe’s Villages campuses for clients, staff, and visitors. In this role, you perform core security duties including patrols, access control, incident response, and documentation while supporting shift operations, guiding team members in the field, and reinforcing standards. You also help ensure clear communication and accurate reporting to support consistent and effective daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to Security Officers on shift
- Help onboard and mentor new team members
- Reinforce professionalism, accountability, and teamwork
- Support completion of required trainings and policy acknowledgements
- Conduct patrols and manage access control across assigned locations
- Respond to safety concerns, incidents, and emergencies with sound judgment
- Perform post inspections and monitor use of security equipment
- Help ensure adherence to department standards and procedures
- Respond to and document incidents clearly and accurately
- Review reports completed by team members and provide feedback as needed
- Share key updates, trends, and follow-up actions with leadership
- Support daily activity reporting for shift operations
Candidate Profile
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in security, public safety, military, or related field (or similar experience in safety-focused or high-responsibility roles)
- Experience providing guidance, mentoring, or informal leadership preferred
- Active California Guard Card
- CPR/First Aid & AED or BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- A valid driver’s license is preferred to support occasional travel between locations.
- At least 21 years of age

- Sound judgment in responding to incidents and emergencies
- Strong communication skills, including report writing, documentation, and clear, constructive feedback
- Knowledge of safety and security practices, including de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
- Ability to stay organized, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively in fast-paced or 24/7 environments
- Professionalism, discretion, and strong interpersonal skills in working with diverse teams and communities
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and standard communication tools)
- Experience with report review, compliance, or related documentation processes
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Work Schedule
Full-time position with schedules that may include evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays based on operational needs. Work is primarily onsite at Father Joe’s Villages facilities.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay for this position is based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. The anticipated starting pay range for this role is $24.00 to $27.61 per hour.
