Job Summary
The Religion Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, rigorous, and student-centered instruction in religion courses, while supporting the academic and social-emotional development of students in alignment with the mission and Episcopal identity of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. Supports the development of students’ critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and understanding of diverse religious traditions through courses grounded in the values and traditions of the Episcopal Church.
Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Required • Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies, Theology, History, or a related field. • 3 years of full-time classroom teaching experience. • Strong understanding of best practices in teaching religion and/or humanities courses. • Demonstrated ability to facilitate discussion-based and inquiry-driven learning. • Comfort with educational technology and innovative teaching practices. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team-based environment. Preferred • Master’s degree in Religious Studies, Theology, or related field. • Clear California Single Subject Teaching Credential. • Experience teaching grades 6–12. • Experience teaching world religions or ethics-based courses. • Experience collaborating with chaplaincy or faith-based programming. • Experience in independent schools.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: • Salary Range: $73,000 - $87,000 • Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Short and Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance • Paid Time Off: 10 Faculty wellness days • Retirement: 403(b) Retirement Plan with employer contribution • Additional: Tuition Remission, Salary Continuance Plan, Wee Tartan Childcare Center (upon availability)
