St Julien Hotel & Spa is looking for a personable and service-oriented Host for Jill's Restaurant. The primary responsibilities of this position include taking reservations and greeting/seating guests. As the first and last point of contact for our guests, we are looking for someone who can make a positive, lasting impression and help to ensure that our guests have enjoyed a luxurious and memorable experience!
Essential Job Functions:
- Greet every guest and associate with eye contact and a sincere, friendly smile; use guest names at every opportunity.
- Perform all opening and closing duties and prepare the host station for each shift (inspect all menus for accuracy and overall cleanliness, review daily reservations, etc.).
- Accurately book reservations – including confirming all information with guests prior to closing the interaction.
- Alert Manager and service personnel of special instructions or occasions being celebrated/recognized whenever applicable.
- Escort guest(s) to their table and inform the appropriate server of each party’s arrival if not within the immediate vicinity when guests have taken their seats.
- Help control flow of the restaurant by giving reasonable seating assignments, accurate wait times, and offering assistance to servers when necessary/possible.
- Perform voicemail callbacks and reservation confirmations on a daily basis; reconfirm reservation details with guests prior to closing the interaction.
- Possess excellent knowledge of important restaurant details and general Hotel information to be able to answer guest inquiries.
- Present oneself in a professional manner by adhering to the Hotel’s grooming and appearance policies, and maintaining a pleasant and respectful demeanor when engaging guests and other associates.
- Other duties as requested by manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous customer service experience required. Previous restaurant, hospitality, and/or host experience highly preferred.
- Ideal candidate must be someone friendly and service-oriented, who can communicate effectively with all levels of associates and guests and work well as part of a team.
- Must be able to stand for several hours at a time and be able to lift/push/pull up to 10 lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Valid TIPS certification required, or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
- Candidates must be able to work 2-3 shifts per week.
- Open and flexible availability is required. Interested candidates must be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
