What are the responsibilities and job description for the INTERMITTENT EQUIPMENT & WAREHOUSE WORKER / ELECTIONS position at St. Charles County Government?

Starting Salary: $18.00 per hour
Positions are intermittent, as needed positions with working hours that can go up to 40 hours per week for several weeks on a seasonal basis. Applicants must be a registered voter in the State of Missouri and declare political party preference. Returning personnel are eligible for pay raise after working 400 hours the previous year.
PURPOSE: Gathers and packs election supplies and equipment for transport to voting sites and unpacks and stores equipment and supplies returned from site. Performs general maintenance and repair tasks for County election cages, carts, booths and related election equipment. Assists Voting System Supervisors with computer vote counting equipment uploading, pre-& post logic - accuracy testing, iPad ledger file downloading & history reports. Assists with the proper safekeeping and storage of official voting records that must be maintained. Assists with other election related maintenance duties as assigned. Performs onsite technical assistance at polling locations on election day. Assists with absentee curbside voting and crowd control.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires graduation from a general or technical high school or equivalent and at least 1 year of prior general labor experience, general maintenance experience preferred. Requires continual moderate physical exertion in performing job functions which include standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, stooping and the ability to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. Must be able to follow instructions and be reliable. Ability to effectively communicate with Election Authority personnel and the general public. Must maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Work schedule: Scheduled hours will fluctuate weekly. Must work election day starting at 5am to completion which can go past 10pm. Peak times will be 4 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after a scheduled election. Employment will be contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
