In This Role, You Will lead and oversee all aspects of athletic programs at Aug Prep South including supervision of all departmental personnel. This role currently has three full-time staff members supporting the position including two Assistant Directors and one Aquatics Program Lead. This role encompasses oversight of athletic programs and facilities, mentoring coaches and staff, ensuring compliance with WIAA regulations, and fostering a Christ-centered environment that promotes the physical, social, and spiritual development of students.
The Athletic Director will work collaboratively and support students, families, coaches, and local organizations. We are looking for an individual continuously seeking professional growth through team meetings, professional development, coursework, workshops, and seminars.
PROGRAM AND STAFF SUPERVISION
- Design and execute purpose-driven athletic programs spanning K-12.
- Develop and design programming and staffing models for youth sports programming
- Supervises and evaluates all coaches within the athletic program
- Ensures all coaches conform to WIAA rules, and State and Federal laws. Ensures all coaches have successfully completed required certifications.
- May serve as a Physical Education advisor and instructional coach promoting lifelong wellness
- Supervises use of Augustine Prep facilities by internal groups, as well as outside partners or community groups; specifically, the pool, gym, and outdoor fields.
PLANNING AND FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Prepares and administers the operating budgets for all athletic programs. Orders all equipment and maintains a current inventory of all athletic equipment.
- Coordinates the K-12 athletic programs in collaboration with principals and coaches to ensure programmatic needs are achieved.
- Schedules and issues contracts for school athletic contests, and maintains the proper and necessary administrative records.
- Arranges transportation and lodging (if needed) for all away school contests.
ADMINISTRATION
- Supervises the preparation and verification of all athletic eligibility lists.
- Attends area, district, and state meetings as a representative of Augustine Prep.
- Provides training and professional development for Augustine Prep staff and coaches.
- Serve as a founding faculty voice in the planning and development of campus schedules and safety plans.
ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT EXTERNAL RELATIONS
- Serves as the community representative for the Athletic programs at Augustine Prep.
- Provides leadership and serves as liaison to school athletic groups and coordinates with the coaches and support group for specific athletic programs.
- When needed, will engage with community leaders and local media to provide information and commentary on athletic programs at Augustine Prep.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A belief in the ability of every child and a commitment to ensure excellence for each student.
- Master’s Degree (Master’s degree in Education a plus) and three to five years’ experience in athletic administration, varsity high school coaching and demonstrated team successes.
- Active participation in a Christian Church.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Self-motivated, well-organized, able to organize large athletic events.
- Skilled in strategic planning, project management, and organization development.
- Focus on big picture priorities while not losing sight of the annual goals and objectives.
- Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
- Lastly and most important, the candidate must demonstrate and possess the highest integrity and be able to live the values and culture of St. Augustine Preparatory School.
