Location: Suffolk County, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (W-2)
Monday - Friday Day Shift
Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and vigilant Licensed Security Guard to provide on-site security at an active construction site in Suffolk County. The ideal candidate will maintain a safe environment by enforcing site rules, monitoring access, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control access to the construction site (workers, visitors, deliveries)
- Conduct regular patrols of the site to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access
- Enforce site safety policies and procedures at all times
- Maintain daily activity logs and incident reports
- Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, or safety hazards
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, contractors, and management
- Monitor surveillance systems (if applicable)
Required Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Security Guard License
- Must comply with training requirements under the New York State Division of Licensing Services security guard training requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Ability to stand and patrol for extended periods
- Reliable transportation
Safety Requirements (Mandatory):
- Strict adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) construction site safety standards
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including:
- Hard hat
- High-visibility vest
- Steel-toe boots
- Safety glasses (as required)
- Awareness of common construction hazards (heavy machinery, open excavations, electrical risks)
- Ability to follow emergency procedures, including evacuation and incident reporting
- Maintain a safe distance from active construction zones unless authorized
- Immediately report unsafe conditions or violations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in construction site security
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (a plus)
- Experience with access control systems and report writing
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Active construction site with noise, equipment, and moving vehicles
