What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consumer Loans Collateral Specialist position at SRP FEDERAL CREDIT UNION?

Summary:
Under the general direction of the Consumer Loan Operations Manager, records and perfects the SRP FCU lien position on all collateralized consumer loans. The major functions involve maintaining current knowledge of titling policies and procedures in Georgia and South Carolina and coordinating documents from branches, dealers, and members to the state DMV. Responsibilities require daily verbal and written communication skills to track title history. In addition, daily scanning and filing of loan records and processing of loan payoffs are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for selling and cross-selling Credit Union services to current and potential members. Credit Union services are to be promoted using the "member benefit-based approach."
- Fully complies with the requirements of all Credit Union policies, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and OFAC Policies.
- Perfects SRPFCU lien on all collateralized consumer loans. This process requires the creation of documents and communication with SRP FCU members, branch staff, sellers, dealers, financial institutions, and various state DMV personnel.
- Responsible for conducting research and resolution of missing collateral documents. This includes significant telephone contact and some written contact with the parties involved. Also documents records of research efforts and updates periodic reviews of outstanding cases with management.
- Reviews and updates the monthly report of outstanding titles. Tracks and resolves more complex title problems. This process frequently involves extended negotiations with multiple parties.
- Functions as a resource for collateral guidance on consumer loans for branches and members.
- Performs routine filing of loan documents and signature cards. Daily scans of electronic titles as well as other loan documents. In addition, it monitors and eliminates any filing backlog.
- Processes loan payoffs and the release of collateral through documentation received directly from SRP FCU members, branch staff, dealers, and insurance companies. The release of collateral includes reviewing all loan records for various holds and special instructions before the lien release. It also includes a review of the funds used to pay off the loan and determines the title release date.
- Communicates with insurance companies to obtain proper documentation for payoffs on total loss cases, GAP claims, and mechanical breakdown insurance refunds. Upon completion of documents, issue a title guarantee to the insurance company.
- In response to various audit and examination requests, assists management in collecting and reviewing collateral records.
- Other tasks may be assigned by appropriate line supervision.

Qualifications:Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; 1 -3 years of vehicle, boat, and equipment title processing experience.
Other Skills:
Must possess sound verbal and written communication skills. Must be accurate, organized, detail-oriented, member-focused, and able to multi-task and work under deadlines.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Microsoft Office software, including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook Email /Calendar, and Internet Explorer software. Experience with Meridian Link or equivalent consumer loan software preferred.
