Job Description
As a BMT Coordinator, you will be responsible for the comprehensive care and coordination of Bone Marrow Transplant and certain Blood Cancer patients throughout their treatment journey. You will work closely with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers to ensure all aspects of the care plan are met. This role includes pre-admission coordination, continuous follow-up, patient education, and managing resources to enhance the patient experience.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Coordinating the care of BMT and Blood Cancer patients from pre-admission through post-transplant, ensuring effective communication with all involved parties.
- Monitoring the physical, emotional, psychosocial, and financial needs of patients before, during, and after the transplant process.
- Educating patients and families about the disease, treatment options, and procedures related to BMT.
- Coordinating the transfer of patient care from the Stem Cell Transplant Program back to the referring physician.
- Managing outpatient drug benefits and advocating for patients to ensure appropriate care is received.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies such as JCAHO, OSHA, FACT, HIPAA, and NMDP.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Washington Registered Nurse License (must be obtained upon hire).
- National Provider BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (must be obtained upon hire).
- At least 1 year of Hematology Oncology Nursing experience in an outpatient setting. (Clinical rotations or residency programs are not considered for this requirement.)
