Job Summary
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support a busy Optometry Clinic providing eye care services to patients of all ages. This role involves assisting providers with patient care, ocular imaging, optical services, administrative support, and clinical documentation while ensuring an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Room and screen patients for optometry providers
- Perform point-of-care testing and patient assessments
- Accurately document patient information and clinical activities
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures
- Maintain patient confidentiality and safety standards
- Verify optical benefits and insurance coverage
- Assist patients with frame selection and eyewear orders
- Perform measurements and order entry for glasses and contact lenses
- Process payments and maintain order records
- Dispense eyewear and contact lenses
- Perform adjustments, repairs, and warranty replacements
- Acquire ocular imaging, including:
- Retinal Photography
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Visual Field Testing
- Corneal Topography
- Upload and document imaging results for provider review
- Assist with patient scheduling, referrals, recalls, and follow-up appointments
- Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries
- Coordinate with providers and referral teams
- Order and maintain office and medical supplies
- Assist with inventory management and invoice processing
- National Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, or RMA)
- Current BLS Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a healthcare setting
- Attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
