What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trial Attorney position at SR Staffing?
Commercial Litigation Attorney (Trial‑Focused)
Downtown Los Angeles | Hybrid
A highly regarded boutique litigation firm in Downtown Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney to join its trial‑forward team. This role is ideal for a litigator who wants substantive responsibility, real trial exposure, and a clear long‑term path—without the bureaucracy and burn of BigLaw.
The firm handles complex, high‑stakes business disputes typically seen at much larger firms, while maintaining a collaborative, tight‑knit culture.
The Opportunity
This is a net‑new growth role, not a backfill. You’ll step into active matters and work closely with seasoned trial lawyers on sophisticated cases from early strategy through resolution and trial.
Attorneys in this role are trusted with meaningful responsibility early, including client interaction, case strategy, and courtroom experience.
Practice Focus
Work centers around complex commercial and business litigation, including:
- Commercial disputes and business torts
- Breach of contract & fiduciary duty matters
- Fraud and unfair competition (UCL) claims
- Real property and ownership disputes
- Professional liability matters
(This is a focused commercial litigation role—not a generalist position.)
The Role
- Manage litigation matters from pleadings through resolution
- Draft and argue motions; handle discovery and depositions
- Participate in mediations and trial preparation
- Work directly with clients and opposing counsel
- Collaborate closely with trial partners on case strategy
- Gain meaningful trial and courtroom exposure (including second‑chair and, where appropriate, first‑chair opportunities)
Who This Is For
- 5–10 years of commercial or complex civil litigation experience
- Strong writing, analytical, and case‑management skills
- Prior trial experience or significant trial preparation exposure
- California Bar admission required
- Looking for long‑term growth in a boutique environment with real responsibility
Compensation & Structure
- Base salary: $180,000 – $230,000 (DOE)
- Billable target: ~1,750 hours annually (sustainable and realistic)
Total compensation for strong performers typically ranges from $200,000 – $260,000 , with continued growth as attorneys take on greater responsibility, client ownership, and trial involvement.
While the firm emphasizes quality over volume, attorneys who take on increased responsibility and contribute meaningfully to matters see continued compensation growth over time.
Work Structure
- Onsite collaboration preferred initially to support integration and training
- Hybrid flexibility once established
