Overview
A well-established plaintiff-side personal injury law firm in Newark, NJ is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Trial Attorney to join its litigation team. This role is ideal for a seasoned trial lawyer who is passionate about advocacy, thrives in the courtroom, and has a proven track record of successfully trying personal injury cases as first chair.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a full caseload of plaintiff personal injury matters from inception through trial
- Serve as first chair trial attorney in personal injury jury trials
- Conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings
- Develop case strategy, evaluate liability and damages, and negotiate settlements
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, motions in limine, and other pre‑trial filings
- Collaborate with attorneys, experts, and support staff to prepare cases for trial
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide consistent client communication
Experience & Qualifications
- 5 to 10 years of plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience
- Minimum of 3 personal injury jury trials as first chair (required)
- Strong command of New Jersey civil procedure and evidentiary rules
- Excellent courtroom presence, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to manage cases independently and meet litigation deadlines
- Active and good standing with the New Jersey Bar (required)
Compensation
- Base Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 bonus
