**Employees hired at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. An employee hired at anything higher than the entry step of the range will have salary step advancement after 12 months and every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase.**

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervise and instruct classified and part-time hourly employees (train, schedule, evaluate, discipline and respond to grievances). Adhere to classified contracts and all district rules and regulations ensuring efficient operations. *
- Inform and educate staff about behavior and performance expectations, provide timely and accurate feedback regarding performance, and ensure performance and behavioral problems are corrected promptly and effectively. *
- Train personnel in various custodial, housekeeping and general maintenance functions to maintain the cleanliness and care of the institution. *
- Train personnel on supervisory techniques, new products and equipment use. *
- Evaluate the performance of employees against established standards and counsel them on performance; take or recommend corrective or disciplinary action when necessary. *
- Operate a safety program by training staff in safety and maintains a follow-up program on accidents and safety prevention techniques. *
- Meet with vendors to learn about new products, make product tests and recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and machinery. *
- Assist in maintaining budget control for labor and materials. *
- Prepare a variety of reports such as analyses of custodial workloads, service requirements, and employee job performance. *
- Ensure that equipment is properly maintained. *
- Establish the location of various collection points, collection schedules, records and quality control operations relating to material recycling programs, including necessary contacts with recycling vendors. *
- Determine staffing needs for buildings.
