Summary: Supervises and coordinates technical activities and personnel for the Surveillance Department.
The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by this position. Employee(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all surveillance equipment for the Casino.
- Monitors and ensures the proper functioning of surveillance systems and related equipment.
- Addresses and resolves escalated system issues; promotes and ensures user satisfaction with the Casino’s surveillance system.
- Conducts systems analyses and provides recommendations necessary to improve the overall performance of surveillance equipment.
- Serves as Foreman for all Casino remodeling projects requiring surveillance; supervises project activities for assigned projects.
- Supervises system conversions, upgrades, enhancements, and/or modifications.
- Monitors the quality of supplier products and work performed by vendors.
- Performs software programming and design work in relation to the surveillance monitoring system.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of departmental reports, records, and documentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Ensures the hiring, training, promoting, assigning, disciplining and discharging of employees are in accordance with Tribal Law, including without limitation, the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO).
- Provides direction, evaluation and addresses complaints and resolves problems for Surveillance Technical Employees as well as guests
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws and in alignment with SMGI’s Pride Values, Brand Promise, and Business Vision.
Required Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of surveillance system maintenance and repair.
- Surveillance systems and equipment relative to gaming operations.
- Equipment and tools used in the diagnosis and repair of surveillance systems.
- Casino operations, policies, and procedures.
- Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.
Required Skill in:
- Overseeing and coordinating the maintenance and repair of surveillance systems.
- Ensuring the proper functioning of casino surveillance systems and related equipment.
- Directing the installation, upgrade, and/or modification of surveillance systems.
- Performing surveillance software design and programming functions.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
- Supervising, leading, and delegating tasks and authority.
Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics or a related field, and three (3) years’ experience installing and maintaining surveillance systems, with three (3) years supervisory experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess a CCNA (or equivalent) or obtain a CCNA within the first year of being in position.
- High security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission.
- Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in a gaming environment with exposure to tobacco smoke and noise.
- Work is subject to frequent sitting, intermittent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
- Work is occasionally performed in confined spaces or at heights over 3 feet.
- Work requires occasional ladder climbing and intermittent exposure to adverse weather conditions.
Equipment and Tools Utilized:
- Equipment utilized includes specialized technical tools used in the repair and maintenance of surveillance equipment, forklifts, man lifts, personal computer, standard office equipment, and department vehicles.
