What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yamaha Pick & Place Machine Technician/Programmer position at Spinnaker Contract Manufacturing INC?
Get in on the ground floor of a brand-new Yamaha SMT ODD FORM PICK & PLACE machine.
Spinnaker Contract Manufacturing is expanding our SMT capabilities with the addition of a new Yamaha Odd Form Pick & Place machine, and we are looking for someone who wants to learn it, master it, and ultimately take ownership of it.
This is a unique opportunity to be involved from the beginning. You will learn the new equipment as it is installed and brought online, develop your programming and troubleshooting skills, and grow into Spinnaker's go-to Yamaha Pick & Place Technician.
The goal is for this person to become an internal expert who can program the machine, troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and train operators.
What You'll Learn & Own
- Participate in the installation, setup, and launch of our new Yamaha Pick & Place equipment
- Learn to program and operate the Yamaha platform
- Create, modify, and optimize machine programs for PCB assemblies
- Set up feeders, components, nozzles, and machine configurations
- Perform new-product setups and changeovers
- Troubleshoot placement, feeder, component, and machine-related issues
- Work with Engineering and Production to improve programs and processes
- Help maximize machine efficiency, quality, and uptime
- Develop standard setup and operating procedures
- Become the technical resource for the equipment
- Run equipment, train and support operators.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and equipment care
- Continue developing your knowledge of ODD FORM manufacturing and PCBA processes
Who We're Looking For
You do not necessarily need to already be a Yamaha expert. We are looking for someone with the mechanical and technical aptitude to become one.
The right person will be:
- Mechanically and technically inclined
- Comfortable working with computers and manufacturing equipment
- Interested in learning programming and automation
- Strong at troubleshooting and problem solving
- Detail-oriented and quality focused
- Willing to work hands-on on the manufacturing floor
- Able to learn a process and then teach it to others
- Someone who takes ownership and wants to become the expert
Previous experience with SMT, Pick & Place equipment, Thru hole automation, electronics manufacturing, machine programming, or PCBA manufacturing is a plus, but we are willing to consider someone with strong technical ability and the desire to learn.

This isn't intended to be just another machine operator position.
We want to develop someone who can progress from:
Yamaha Machine Operator → Programmer → Yamaha Machine Technician / Subject Matter Expert → Operator Trainer
