Overview
The Surface Mount Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining automated SMT (Surface Mount Technology) pick-and-place machines used to place electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role ensures high-quality assembly while adhering to safety and production standards.

Duties

• Set up and operate Yamaha SMT pick-and-place machines , enduring optimal performance and safety standards.
• Load components into feeders and verify correct part numbers and orientation
• Read and interpret assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and machine programs
• Perform first article inspections and verify component placement and polarity.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust machine parameters to optimize production efficiency and quality.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report malfunctions
• Maintain accurate production and quality records
• Work closely with quality control and engineering teams to resolve issues
• Follow all safety protocols and cleanroom procedures
• Adhere to IPC 610 standards for quality assurance in electronic assembly processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with computers.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Experience in Surface mount technology equipment (or equivalent technical training)
• Familiarity with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) precautions
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to handle small components.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
• Familiarity with electrical wiring and soldering techniques.
• Understanding of IPC 610 standards for electronic assembly quality control.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
