We are looking for an experienced Production Manager who can lead multiple manufacturing departments, develop strong supervisors, and drive operational excellence.

This position is ideal for a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives in a high-mix, low-to-medium electronics manufacturing environment and enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and building winning teams.

Position Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and continuous improvement of all production operations. This position ensures products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards while meeting customer delivery commitments.

The Production Manager provides leadership and direction to department supervisors, coordinates production resources across the facility, drives Lean Manufacturing initiatives, improves throughput, reduces waste, and develops future manufacturing leaders.

This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Direct Reports

The Production Manager has direct responsibility for the following departments:

  • Through-Hole Supervisor
  • SMT Supervisor
  • Cable & Electro-Mechanical Supervisor
  • Machine Programming & Maintenance Lead
  • Shipping Department

Primary Responsibilities

Manufacturing Leadership

  • Lead daily production operations across all manufacturing departments.
  • Establish daily priorities to ensure customer commitments are achieved.
  • Balance labor and equipment resources between departments.
  • Conduct daily production meetings and communicate priorities across manufacturing.
  • Remove production bottlenecks and rapidly resolve operational issues.
  • Promote accountability through clear expectations and measurable performance.

Production Planning & Execution

  • Execute the master production schedule.
  • Monitor Work-In-Process (WIP) to maximize throughput.
  • Ensure labor is allocated efficiently based upon demand.
  • Coordinate priorities between Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Purchasing and Shipping.
  • Ensure products move efficiently through each manufacturing process.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, coach and mentor department supervisors.
  • Develop future leaders through coaching and cross-training.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and establish measurable goals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Human Resources on staffing, employee development and performance management.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives throughout the facility.
  • Lead Kaizen events and process improvement activities.
  • Reduce waste, setup time and production delays.
  • Improve factory flow and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Utilize KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement.

Operational Excellence

  • Improve production throughput while maintaining quality.
  • Monitor:

  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Scrap
  • Rework
  • First Pass Yield
  • WIP Levels
  • Capacity Utilization
  • Develop action plans when KPIs fall below expectations.

Equipment & Automation

Partner with the Machine Programming & Maintenance Lead to:

  • Maximize equipment uptime.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed.
  • Support equipment upgrades and automation projects.
  • Improve machine performance and manufacturing capacity.
  • Evaluate capital equipment investments.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure production meets IPC, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Quality to reduce defects and improve First Pass Yield.
  • Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure manufacturing procedures and work instructions remain current.
  • Promote a culture of quality at every workstation.

Safety

  • Maintain a safe manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
  • Lead safety investigations and corrective actions.
  • Promote proper PPE usage and safe work practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Business or Operations Management preferred (equivalent manufacturing leadership experience considered).
  • Minimum 7 years’ manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 5 years leading supervisors or multiple manufacturing departments.
  • Electronics manufacturing (EMS/CM) experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • SMT
  • Through-Hole Assembly
  • Cable & Wire Harness Manufacturing
  • Electro-Mechanical Assembly
  • Shipping & Logistics
  • Experience utilizing ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Excellent communication, coaching and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to improve productivity, quality and on-time delivery.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Experience implementing automation projects.
  • Experience leading high-mix electronics manufacturing.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
