What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brake Press Operator position at Spherion Staffing Corporation?
Perform all Brake Operator 1 job duties, responsibilities and requirements. Adheres to all Company and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Coordinates with Engineering and Brake Operators to ensure full understanding of each job. Set-Up proven jobs, using MPI if available and create one if needed according to standards in a safe manner. Complete the Brake Inspection Sheet and edit or delete if needed and notifying Supervisor. Evaluate the need to add or delete an operation for proper job costing. Report to Supervisor. Ensures the development of parts is accurate and interact with Engineering required for change/s. Monitor cycle times and calculate PPH. Report to supervisor if standard needs changing. Accurately use EPICOR to Clock In/Out, review Job Tracker, enter Labor Notes, Labor activities and correct counts. Inspect first part and QA approval, in-process checks and last part check thoroughly. Reporting to Supervisor on any cost saving suggestions for safety, improved quality and productivity. Responsible for making sure complete information is given to the next operator taking over the job in terms of safety, quality andproductivity.EDUCATION, TRAINING EXPEREINCE High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred Good reading and writing skills Basic knowledge of blueprint reading Must be able to do flat pattern layout Minimum 2 years brake experience at MASS and /or five years prior Brake experience from other shopKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ABILITIES Considered to have working knowledge of set-up in their field. Ability to problem solve at this level becomes an occasional event. Ability to set-up and operate multiple processes and or machines in their department. Minimizing the risk of injury before it happens or preventing future events. Minimizing the risk of defects that occur and suggesting prevention measures for future defects. Ability to use, theory, formulas, programming, paperwork maintenance. Flexible to work in other areas when needed. Knowledge of sheet metal tolerances, bend reliefs, notches and tooling holes. Knowledge of all Punch and Dies used with Amada. Work in shop environment with a medium level noise and metal dust. Proven ability to fix tapers on flanges and angle problem on parts. Demonstrated good hand/eye coordination. Can safety lift 35 pounds and stand for up to 8 hours Ability to work on Days/Swing/Night as required Willing to work OT when neededWORK ENVIRONMENT Sense of urgency at all times, Fast paced, loud noise, climate controlled facility.
