A leading energy infrastructure owner and developer is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to support the development and execution of large-scale transmission infrastructure projects across North America.
This position is ideal for engineers who want to move beyond detailed design and take a more strategic role overseeing project development, engineering consultants, procurement activities, and project execution. The successful candidate will serve as the owner's technical representative, helping guide major transmission investments from early-stage development through construction.
The role offers exposure to high-profile transmission projects involving both overhead and underground systems, while working closely with engineering consultants, contractors, utilities, and internal project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical oversight of transmission engineering consultants and external engineering partners.
• Review transmission line designs, studies, specifications, and engineering deliverables for quality, accuracy, and constructability.
• Evaluate engineering assumptions, challenge technical recommendations, and ensure project objectives are achieved.
• Support project development activities including routing evaluations, constructability reviews, cost estimating, and technical due diligence.
• Participate in contractor procurement efforts, bid evaluations, and scope development.
• Coordinate with utilities, engineering firms, contractors, permitting teams, and project stakeholders.
• Support transmission and substation infrastructure projects through development, engineering, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Review change orders, technical submittals, RFIs, and consultant deliverables.
• Assist with project budgeting, scheduling, risk identification, and execution planning.
• Travel to project sites as required to support project execution and stakeholder coordination.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7 years of experience supporting high-voltage transmission infrastructure projects.
• Experience with transmission line engineering and project execution.
• Understanding of overhead transmission systems.
• Experience reviewing engineering deliverables and coordinating with consultants or third-party engineering firms.
• Working knowledge of applicable transmission industry standards and codes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with both overhead and underground transmission systems.
• Exposure to transmission voltages ranging from 230kV through 500kV.
• Experience supporting large utility, developer, EPC, engineering consulting, or infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
• Familiarity with transmission and substation project development activities.
