Tax Director

SpectrumCareers is partnering with a growing renewable energy company on a confidential search for a hands-on Tax Director. You’ll own the full tax function, from compliance and provisions to planning around tax equity partnerships and incentives, and you’ll be a key advisor to leadership as the business scales.

What you’ll do

• Own federal, state, and local tax compliance, including income, sales, property, and other applicable taxes
• Calculate federal and state estimated tax payments and manage the tax calendar so every filing is on time
• Review returns prepared by external advisors for accuracy, and coordinate with advisors and auditors on filings and audits
• Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions and deferred taxes under ASC 740 (US GAAP) and IFRS, plus related financial statement disclosures
• Analyze tax partnerships and structures, and advise management on how best to use tax incentives such as the ITC
• Develop tax strategies that reduce liabilities and capture savings opportunities
• Assess the tax impact of new projects, investments, and partnerships with legal, operations, origination, and business development teams
• Research complex tax issues, monitor changes in tax law, and recommend actions to leadership
• Build and maintain internal controls over tax compliance and reporting

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field; CPA, MST, or JD preferred
• 7 years of tax compliance and planning experience, including 2–3 years at the manager level in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm
• Hands-on ASC 740 income tax accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax law, ideally as it applies to renewable energy
• Preferred: partnership compliance in renewable energy tax equity structures, HLBV modeling, and ITC experience
• A hands-on, ownership mindset: you stay engaged in the details and drive issues to resolution rather than handing them off to outside advisors
• Clear communication, sharp analysis, and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
