RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prep parts for finishing: rack efficiently, wash/clean surfaces, and mask to specification.
- Review prints and work instructions to confirm color, finish type, and masking details.
- Select and stage the correct coating materials; set up spray/powder equipment and PPE.
- Apply wet paint or powder coat using proper gun techniques to achieve uniform coverage and mil thickness.
- Operate curing ovens; verify time/temperature profiles and handle parts carefully to protect finishes.
- Inspect parts and equipment routinely; perform basic maintenance per schedule and escalate issues early.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe finishing area with proper hazardous waste handling and storage.
- Train others in fundamental wet paint/powder processes as needed and support additional shop duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on wet paint and/or powder coating experience.
- Comfort reading prints with a moderate level of blueprint interpretation.
- Knowledge of safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Consistent, reliable work habits with flexibility to shift tasks as priorities change.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to wear a respirator and required PPE for extended periods.
- Physically able to stand/walk for long periods; bend, kneel, and crouch as needed; and lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use hands and fingers for tools, equipment, and computer tasks; strong close/color/depth vision and focus adjustment.
- Comfort working around fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and varying noise levels.
- Operates safely to prevent personal injury and property damage; models good shop citizenship.
