What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Internal Auditor position at Spectrum Search Group?
Spectrum Search Group has been retained by a publicly traded convenience retail company with over 400 locations across the Midwest and Southwest, headquartered in the Fort Worth area. As the company continues to scale and strengthen its accounting infrastructure, they are building out their internal audit function and looking to add an Internal Audit Accountant to support that effort.
This role reports to the Corporate Controller and works closely with senior leadership across Merchandising, Operations, Legal, and Finance.
The Opportunity
-Enhance and document key internal controls across departments, including management
-Review controls and information produced by the entity procedures
-Establish and maintain control documentation repositories and distribute reference materials to control owners company-wide
-Train department-level control owners on documentation standards and proper retainage practices
-Perform ongoing testing of key controls throughout the year and identify opportunities for improvement
-Prepare detailed findings reports and present results and recommendations to senior management
-Support external audit processes and assist with ad hoc projects and analysis as needed
What They're Looking For
Minimum 2 years of experience in public accounting or within an internal audit department
Strong working knowledge of internal controls and the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) framework
CPA or active CPA candidate preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
Experience in consumer retail or a similarly complex, multi-unit environment is a strong plus
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills with sharp attention to detail and strong project management abilities
