What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Reporting Manager position at Spectrum Search Group?
Spectrum Search Group has been retained by a publicly traded convenience retail company with over 450 locations across nine states, headquartered in the Fort Worth area. As a public company, they are building out their financial reporting function and seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to own the SEC reporting process and serve as a key technical accounting resource for the organization.
This role reports to the Corporate Controller and will have one direct report.
The Opportunity
-Own the preparation of annual 10-K and quarterly 10-Q filings, including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A — coordinating across departments to gather information, manage review cycles, and finalize support files
-Maintain the annual and quarterly reporting timetable and track progress against all filing milestones
-Manage accounting and reporting for leases, asset retirement obligations, stock-based compensation, and EPS
-Monitor new and evolving SEC, FASB, and PCAOB guidance — perform technical accounting research and document complex accounting matters
-Assist with the development and maintenance of company-wide accounting policies
-Ensure compliance with internal controls across all assigned reporting areas
What They're Looking For
CPA required 3 years of direct SEC reporting experience (10-K, 10-Q, footnotes, MD&A)
5 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience overall
Combination of public accounting and private industry experience is the ideal profile — straight public or straight industry will also be considered
Deep technical GAAP knowledge with the ability to research and document complex accounting matters independently
Experience in consumer retail or a similarly complex, multi-unit environment is a strong plus
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
