Spectrum Child and Family Services is seeking a passionate Parent Education Worker to join our team in Saginaw. This role places you directly on the front lines, providing intensive, hands-on, concrete services to children and families who have experienced trauma and are striving for stability.
You won't just be managing cases—you will be an empowerment partner coordinating vital services and delivering life-changing instruction right inside the family's home. Your work will be the foundation for increasing a family's ability to function successfully and achieve self-sufficiency in their community.
Your Impact in the Community (Key Responsibilities):
- Promote Child Safety & Well-being: Model and teach appropriate, non-abusive child management skills, proper hygiene, and age-appropriate discipline techniques to ensure the safety and healthy development of vulnerable children.
- Build Self-Sufficiency: Provide direct, hands-on instruction to empower parents with essential life skills, including home management (cleaning, laundry) and money management (budgeting and efficient shopping).
- Break Down Barriers: Act as a supportive anchor to combat social isolation and connect families with critical community resources, such as public assistance, health-related services, and food banks, ensuring they have access to their fundamental needs.
- Mobilize Support: Provide necessary transportation to appointments and accompany clients to essential hearings or services, helping them navigate complex systems.
- Uphold Integrity: Report any current or potential danger to children to MDHHS immediately, acting as a crucial safeguard for the most vulnerable.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma required.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a Human Services field preferred.
Skills and Requirements
- Transportation: Reliable and ongoing transportation is required to make home visits and provide transportation to youth and families.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Must provide proof of vehicle insurance coverage on the vehicle used.
- Satisfactory completion of all required background screenings is mandatory.
- Requires a negative TB Test and satisfactory physical exam within one year of hire.

Salary : $43,000 - $46,000
