Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) – Full Time
Special Tree Rehabilitation System – Romulus, MI
Special Tree is a nationally recognized rehabilitation provider specializing in post-acute and subacute care for individuals recovering from brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neurological conditions. Located on a beautiful 23-acre campus in Romulus, Michigan, we have been a pioneer in neuro-rehabilitation for over 50 years.
We are seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to join our Day Treatment Services (DTS) Program and help clients achieve meaningful rehabilitation goals and improved independence.
Schedule
- Full Time
- Monday – Friday
- 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Participate in interdisciplinary team planning and implementation of therapeutic recreation care plans.
- Provide individual and group recreational and vocational programming.
- Complete client assessments, progress notes, care plans, and discharge documentation.
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, residential, vocational, and program leadership teams to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain program supplies and resources.
- Monitor client funds, accounts, and related documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate after-hours activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation required.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification required.
- Experience working with traumatic brain injury and/or neurological populations preferred.
- CPR certification required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be of good moral character.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience and education.
