Job Summary/Company:
Sparks group, partnered with a health information network and technology company, is seeking a skilled and proactive Payroll Accountant to handle a variety of financial tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll through specific platforms and managing all related filings. Additionally, this role supports general ledger accounting, including the monthly close process, account reconciliations, and budget variance analysis. Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Accurately and timely process full-charge bi-weekly payroll, manage employee benefit deductions, and ensure timely tax filings.
- Month-end Close: Prepare account reconciliations (including bank reconciliations and accruals), create journal entries with supporting documentation, and manage various journal entries, including those for payroll, bonuses, and health insurance.
- Tax: Assist with paying quarterly and annual taxes and resolve state and federal tax notices in a timely manner.
- Audit & Financial Reporting: Support annual and interim financial audits and ensure effective internal controls.
- Collaborate with the financial analysis team on variance analysis, recommend improvements to accounting policies, assist with the integration of new procedures, and work on special projects.
Qualifications/Background Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of experience applying technical accounting principles under US GAAP, preferably in Public Accounting.
- Experience with Workday Payroll (required), NetSuite & OneSource Virtual (preferred).
- Experience using advanced functions in Microsoft Excel.
- Preferred experience with a variety of financial reporting tools.
