Responsibilities
- Manage complex HTS and ECCN classifications for aviation aftermarket parts using structured, logic-based systems rather than manual processes
- Serve as subject matter expert on U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) and corporate policies to ensure full import/export compliance
- Act as primary liaison to customs brokers and subcontractors, ensuring accountability and timely clearance
- Use SQL and Skywise (Palantir) to analyze supply chain data, identify compliance gaps, cost-saving opportunities, and duty drawbacks
- Build and maintain PowerBI dashboards to track KPIs, entry timeliness, accuracy, and communicate insights to senior leadership
- Leverage advanced tools and AI/ML models to align regulatory requirements with operational data
- Develop VBA macros and scripts to automate entry validation, duty calculations, and other repetitive tasks
- Conduct data-driven internal audits to detect discrepancies and prevent compliance penalties
- Collaborate with logistics and engineering teams to ensure master data accuracy across systems
- Support the Customs Manager with company initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Required - High School diploma or GED
- Required - 6 years' experience in U.S. import compliance, import operations or combination thereof
- Regulatory Expertise: Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), HTSUS, and Partner Government Agency requirements.
- Data & Analytics: Proficiency in Microsoft PowerBI to build data models, automate audits, and visualize supply chain risks.
- Engineering Interpretation: Ability to read aircraft engineering data (drawings, maintenance manuals) to determine accurate trade classification.
- Investigative Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying data anomalies and resolving regulatory discrepancies.
- Preferred - 2 years' experience in tariff classification
- Preferred -Systems Experience: Familiarity with Skywise, SAP GTS, or similar global trade software.
- Preferred -Trade Programs: Knowledge of voluntary initiatives like C-TPAT or ISA.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
- Master Customs Specialist (MCS)
- U.S. Customs Broker License
