Summary:
We are a growing aerospace engineering and manufacturing company specializing in lithium-ion battery systems, advanced avionics, and mission-critical hardware. The Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector performs inspection, verification, and documentation activities to ensure product conformity to engineering drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, and the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 and applicable regulatory standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, assemblies, and finished products in accordance with approved inspection plans and procedures.
- Verify product conformity to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and customer and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct dimensional and visual inspections using calibrated inspection and measurement equipment.
- Review manufacturing travelers, inspection records, certificates of conformity, and test data for accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
- Document inspection results, including acceptances, rejections, and nonconformance reports (NCRs), in accordance with QMS requirements.
- Identify and communicate nonconformances, quality risks, or trends to Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing for timely resolution.
- Support root cause analysis and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure inspection activities comply with AS9100, internal procedures, and applicable customer flow-down requirements.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable quality records in approved quality and ERP/MRP systems.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits as required.
- Promote compliance, product safety, and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
- 5 (five) or more years of experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience inspecting electronic assemblies to IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 standards.
- Aerospace, defense, electronics, or other highly regulated industry experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Experience working within a formal Quality Management System (QMS).
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions.
- Proficiency with inspection and measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
- Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Knowledge of quality inspection methods within regulated manufacturing environments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum intermediate computer proficiency, including experience with quality systems, ERP/MRP tools, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical certificate or associate degree in quality, manufacturing, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
- Up-to-date quality-related certifications (e.g., ASQ, IPC, or equivalent) are a plus but not required.
ITAR Requirements
To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, or another "protected individual" as defined by 22 CFR §120.15, or be eligible to obtain any required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
