Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and load securement
- Follow assigned routes diligently, adhering to schedules and traffic regulations to ensure timely deliveries
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation in compliance with federal regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery times and address any route or cargo issues promptly
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues for prompt resolution
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmissions preferred
- Proven truck driving experience with a focus on aggregate delivery; gravel train experience is a must
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to commercial driving and cargo handling
- Strong route planning skills and the ability to adapt to changing schedules or road conditions
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members and customers
- Physical ability to load/unload freight manually or with equipment; comfortable working in various weather conditions
