Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical / Surgical / Telemetry unit. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care using the nursing process and applicable scope and standards of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Detects change in patient status, reports to the appropriate healthcare team member, and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity.
- Assigns priorities to the patient's problems with highest priority given to problems that are most urgent and critical.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Requirements:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or a Compact State
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice
- Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units
