Help homeowners create safe, healthy, and affordable homes while making a meaningful impact in the community. As the Home Renovation Coordinator, you’ll guide clients through home rehabilitation programs, determine eligibility, coordinate renovation projects, and work closely with homeowners, contractors, and community partners to ensure projects are completed successfully, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients through the home rehabilitation application process, including collecting documentation, verifying household income, determining property eligibility, and completing required environmental reviews.
  • Inspect homes and properties to determine eligibility based on local, state, and federal program requirements.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work, coordinate competitive bidding, and assist with contractor selection in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Manage home rehabilitation projects from start to completion, ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and meet required quality standards.
  • Conduct Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections and ensure compliance with contracts, program requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with homeowners, contractors, funders, and community partners to support successful project completion.
  • Provide conflict resolution and mediation between homeowners and contractors when necessary and maintain thorough documentation of all client contacts and resolution efforts.
  • Complete required reports, contracts, purchase orders, loan and mortgage documentation, and other program paperwork.
  • Provide individual housing counseling and maintain accurate client files in compliance with HUD and funder requirements.
  • Develop and maintain community relationships and connect clients with appropriate resources and services.
  • Collaborate with the finance team regarding home rehabilitation loan repayments and delinquent payments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, forms, and systems to increase efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect and cultural responsiveness when working with clients, coworkers, contractors, and community partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; or one to two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in housing programs, community development, case management, construction/rehabilitation, or a related field.
  • Reliable, licensed, and insured transportation.
  • Ability to obtain Housing Quality Standards (HQS) Inspection Certification within six months of hire. Training costs are provided by SWCAP.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and client management or data tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, contractors, community partners, and the public.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow program requirements and standards.
  • Good judgment, resourcefulness, tact, and professionalism.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of construction, home rehabilitation, real estate, or housing programs.
  • Experience working with low-income households or individuals experiencing barriers related to poverty.
  • Experience with HUD programs, housing rehabilitation, or other federally funded housing programs.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, construction projects, or property improvements.

Physical Requirements

This position is primarily performed in an office and clients’ homes and requires regular interaction with clients, contractors, and team members. The position occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and may require lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
