Statement Of Primary Purpose
The Health Sciences Clinical Specialist provides operational and clinical coordination support for Health Sciences programs. This position works closely with the Dean of Health Sciences, the Director of Nursing, program faculty, clinical partners, and administrative staff to coordinate clinical placements, support program operations, and ensure compliance with clinical requirements.
The Clinical Specialist assists with the management of clinical documentation systems, coordinates clinical schedules, and supports faculty and students throughout the clinical placement process. This role also provides administrative and operational support across Health Sciences programs and continuing education offerings as needed.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary administrator/contact for clinical documentation and tracking systems (e.g., Viewpoint or other clinical compliance platforms) for Health Sciences programs.
- Enter, review, and maintain, and monitor large volumes of student and faculty clinical compliance data including immunizations, background checks, certifications, and other documentation required by clinical agencies within designated recordkeeping systems.
- Explore, evaluate, and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive clinical recordkeeping and compliance tracking system across all Health Sciences programs to improve efficiency, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate communication between faculty, students, and clinical partners regarding clinical schedules, placement requirements, and documentation.
- Assist program faculty with clinical scheduling, documentation tracking, and resolution of clinical placement issues.
- Maintain and update clinical affiliation agreements and assist with documentation required by clinical partners.
- Serve as committee chair for yearly Healthcare and Wellness Fair.
- Coordinate with continuing education and workforce development staff to support clinical and workforce initiatives when appropriate.
- Assist with operational support for Health Sciences programs including simulation, admission requirements, transcript review, and application support when needed.
- Provide support for simulation activities including scheduling, preparation, and coordination of simulation equipment and materials as needed.
- Assist with data tracking, reporting, and documentation related to program accreditation, compliance, and program operations.
- Participate in Health Sciences department meetings and collaborate with faculty and staff to support program operations and student success.
- Assist with student recruitment and outreach activities including open houses, career events, and community engagement activities.
- Provide general operational support to the Health Sciences Division to ensure efficient program delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Associate’s degree in education, communication, health sciences, or related field required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Working knowledge of healthcare documentation and clinical compliance requirements preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record management.
- Ability to interpret clinical records such as immunizations, certifications, and healthcare clearances.
- Proficiency in database systems, spreadsheets, and clinical tracking platforms.
- Ability to manage large volumes of information while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to be a team player, a problem solver, to follow complex directions, to be a multi-tasker, and must have a demonstrated ability to work independently with good judgment in decision-making.
