The Pre-Health Sciences Director is responsible for strategic oversight of the pre-health sciences population including outreach, enrollment and retention. The Director will supervise the Health Sciences College Navigator and Project SHIFT Coordinator positions, oversee the implementation and coordination of the SCC Health Sciences Career Pipeline (SCC SHIFT) program and provide leadership in projects that streamline the admissions process in health sciences and develop the cohesiveness of the division. This position will be a resource to health sciences faculty in advising training. The Director works closely with health sciences faculty, student services personnel, employers, and educational partners to develop and deliver dynamic and engaging programs to community members and area high school students. The Director will work to increase the number of students entering health sciences careers in the region through cultivating a rich pool of applicants who are engaged and prepared to begin a two-year health sciences degree program at SCC.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of pre-health sciences advising
- Oversee the selection and supervision of the Health Sciences Ambassadors program to engage participants in mentorship and outreach events
- Develop and implement advisor training activities for health science faculty
- Develop, implement and oversee the Health Sciences programs application process
- Develop and promote partnerships with community agencies focused on healthcare
- Facilitate regular review of admissions processes for health science programs
- Interpret health sciences policies and procedures which impact the competitive health sciences application process
- Oversee the TEAS workshop: coordinate schedules, enroll students and track completion
- Track rubric data and admissions statistics for all selective health sciences programs
- Plan for areas of growth in marketing and health science division promotion
- Provide advising support for health sciences pre-majors, prospective applicants and current health science students
- Publicize information about health science deadlines and criteria for selection to applicants
- Attend Health Sciences department meetings, engage with health sciences faculty/staff to remain current with departmental policies and procedures
- Represent the College in the community and serve on assigned or elected campus committees and organizations
- Participate in New Student Orientation, Career Days, Job Fairs, Open Houses, and other activities for supporting student success.
- Supervise the Health Sciences College Navigator and Project SHIFT Coordinator positions
- Oversee the direction of the Project SHIFT grant program including budget development and management, summative reporting, consulting with grant developers, and supporting grant writing initiatives
- Assist with outreach events in the public schools and at community events for health sciences faculty and student ambassadors

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree in education, communication, health sciences or related field required.

Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to connect, engage, and establish a rapport with faculty and students.
- Ability to be a team player, a problem solver, to follow complex directions, to be a multi-tasker, and must have a demonstrated ability to work independently with good judgment in decision-making.
- Minimum two years’ experience in high school or college teaching, advising, recruiting, success coaching, or related activities.

Working Conditions and Environment
Standard College business hours Monday-Friday with some evening or weekend hours as needed.
Position is based on the Jackson Campus with regular travel to other area high schools in Jackson, Macon and Swain Counties.
