What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard position at Southwest Critical Materials LLC?
Summary of Position:
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining an active log for all personnel entering and leaving the mine site. This position will be responsible for ensuring all personnel entering the mine site are approved, trained, and accounted for while onsite. The successful incumbent will ensure compliance with MSHA and company requirements as well as perform site perimeter checks.
Accountability:
The Security Guard reports directly to the Health & Safety Superintendent.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with department manager and all other departments to ensure compliance has been met for all employees, contractors, vendors, or visitors entering the mine site
- Provide Hazard Training to all personnel who enter the mine property
- Ensure appropriate documentation is entered into each individual personnel security profile
- Actively monitor all personnel entering/exiting mine property
- Facilitate and participate in all mine emergencies (i.e., security will initiate 911 calls and request the appropriate EMS providers from directions provided by appropriate mine personnel)
- Conduct/Assist in Drug and Alcohol testing
- Perform random searches of vehicles entering/leaving the mine property
- Monitor lightning activity and announce lightning alerts over radios and page phones
- Monitor vehicle speeds and enforcing speed limits on access roads using radar equipment
- Monitor activity on all 2way radio channels
- Perform multiple nightly site perimeter checks of buildings, offices, and property
- Perform daily/weekly reports
- Perform daily workplace and vehicle inspections
- Other duties as assigned

Experience and Training:
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- 13 years’ experience in Security role, preferred
- Prior experience in an industrial setting preferred, mining industry experience a plus

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:
The incumbent is expected to work a rotating shift with required overtime. The incumbent may be required to modify this schedule and/or may be required to work both day and night shifts as necessary to support the needs of the business. Personal Protective Equipment required for the fieldwork portion of this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, HiVis apparel, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
