Summary of Position:
The Geological Technician position will be responsible for all aspects of core/sample management and daily recordkeeping. The person will also be trained in geotechnical logging of the core. This position will interface with geologists, assay labs, and geological supply companies.
Accountability:
The Geological Technician reports directly to the Core Operations Supervisor.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Arrange core on logging benches for data collection
- Ability to cut core
- Ensure accurate documentation of core/sample collection and photographic data
- Manage core storage and core shed organization
- Input core/sample data within the available database
- Operate a forklift for core handling and organization
- Trained to assist in geotechnical logging

Experience and Training:
The Geological Technician must be technically proficient with the following:
- Preferably one year or more experience.
- Previous experience in data collection and databases preferred.
- Knowledge of geotechnical logging preferred.
- Must have a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines.

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:
The incumbent is expected to work a rotating 7/7 week schedule with occasional overtime. Schedules are subject to change in accordance with the needs of the company. Personal Protective Equipment required for the fieldwork portion of this position includes but is not limited to, a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. All equipment will be MSHA-approved as applicable.
