We are looking for a miscellaneous foreman to join our team. The miscellaneous foreman needs to have experience supervising and coordinating the day-to-day tasks related to: spreading and leveling dirt, grading, and reading plans on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily activities of a small construction crew on site.
- Plan, prioritize, and delegate tasks while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
- Monitor and record daily time, production, and job site conditions accurately.
- Communicate effectively with the Superintendent, General Superintendent, and Project Manager to align on project goals and progress.
- Operate and oversee heavy equipment used in earthwork and site preparation.
- Apply expertise in excavation, grading, and final site development.
- Review and interpret grading plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Perform grade checking and layout using laser levels and grade rods.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate safety risks.
- Maintain work quality and accuracy according to project standards.
- Support crew development by supervising, training, and mentoring team members.
- Coordinate with equipment and shop management for maintenance needs.
- Adapt to changing site conditions and perform a variety of construction tasks as needed.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by project leadership.
- 3–5 years of field experience as a foreman in grading, excavation, or related earthwork.
- Proficient in the use of laser levels, grade rods, and operating heavy machinery.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record of ensuring job site safety and crew compliance with safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret grading plans, site layouts, and specifications.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, twist, and reach overhead for extended periods.
- Climb ladders, scaffolding, and formwork safely.
- Maintain good balance, coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Strong hand-eye coordination for tool operation and grade verification.
- Adequate vision (close, distance, peripheral, depth perception).
- Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions and job site signals.
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to outdoor conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind).
- Work performed on elevated platforms, over water, or in confined spaces.
- Frequent exposure to noisy, dusty, or potentially hazardous environments.
- Ability to work on uneven terrain for extended periods (up to 10–12 hours/day).
- Possible exposure to materials such as concrete, adhesives, sealants, and fuels.
- Work hours may include nights, weekends, holidays, or emergency call-outs.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, and high-visibility clothing is required.
