What are the responsibilities and job description for the DOZER OPERATOR position at Southland Construction, Inc.?
We are looking for bulldozer operators to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Operates bulldozer equipped with concave blade to gouge out, level, and distribute earth to prepare for constructing roads
- Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment
- Moves levers to control tool bars, carrier, and disks
- Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way
- Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut
- Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals
- Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on tractor, using grease gun, oil cans, and hand tools
- Other duties as required
- 3-5 years of experience operating a bulldozer
- Knowledge of GPS systems preferred, but not required
Experienced and safety-focused Dozer Operator with a strong background in civil construction projects, including site preparation, grading, trenching, and roadwork. Proficient in operating various types of bulldozers and earthmoving equipment to move, level, and distribute soil and other materials according to project specifications. Skilled in reading site plans, ensuring proper slope and grade, and collaborating with site supervisors and crew to meet project timelines. Committed to maintaining equipment, adhering to safety regulations, and supporting efficient job site operations.
