Position Description
LOCATION: Central, SC
CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Part-Time, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Controller
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Southern Wesleyan University is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as a part-time Accounts Payable & Campus Store Coordinator. This position supports the University's financial operations through the accurate processing of accounts payable transactions while also overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Campus Store. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, customer service abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable
- Process invoices and payment requests in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Prepare and process payments in accordance with University policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Communicate with vendors and University departments regarding payment inquiries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes as assigned.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of financial information.
Campus Store Operations
- Coordinate the daily operations of the Campus Store.
- Schedule, train, and supervise student employees.
- Ensure compliance with University cash-handling policies and procedures.
- Manage inventory procurement, receiving, stocking, and inventory control processes.
- Monitor sales, revenues, and expenses to support efficient store operations.
- Assist customers and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain an organized, welcoming, and professional store environment.
About our ideal candidate
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma required; associate's degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.
- Experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, retail operations, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and University information.
- May require lifting of objects up to 20 pounds, and occasionally items up to 50 pounds.

- Physical/Environmental Requirements
- Visual acuity necessary to do editorial work, proof documents, and manage files.
- Requires ability to sit for periods of time in an interior office environment.
- Requires a sedentary to light level of physical ability.
- Occasional travel is required outside of regular work schedule for training, workshops, and special events.
