Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Detention Sergeant and Lieutenant, maintains the safety and welfare of inmates and visitors and monitors all activities within the detention center. This position is a grade N13; pay is $30.32/hour.
Education And Experience
Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age by the date of hire due to the legal requirements of the position.
Must have, or be able to complete, an approved Detention Training Academy within 1 year of appointment to position.
Must never have been convicted of a felony or a crime of misdemeanor domestic violence in Tribal, State or Federal court. Must not have been convicted of or placed on a deferred judgment for any misdemeanor crime for one year prior to appointment.
Must not have served any State, County, Tribal, or Federal jail or prison time within the last 4 years.
Must have a valid Driver’s license for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.
Must successfully pass a medical examination prior to appointment and thereafter annually.
Must successfully pass a timed Physical Agility test and annually thereafter. The test will consist of a serpentine run, 150 lb. body drag, 3ft barrier vault, bed search, stair climbs, 5ft barrier up & over, tunnel crawl, simulated door pull and a lift & carry.
Must pass a psychological evaluation prior to employment.
Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History, fingerprint check, and pre-employment drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years experience in Criminal Justice, Detentions or Corrections.
Certification in First Aid and CPR.
