What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bandsaw Operator - HW - Southern Motion, RD1 position at SOUTHERN MOTION INC?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Bandsaw Operators set up and operate saws to cut parts for upholstered furniture frames.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must learn to read daily schedule and various styles listed.
- Must be able to read a tape measure and check parts for correct dimensions.
- Must be able to safely operate an industrial fork lift. (training available)
- Understand and prioritize order of buggies in accordance to work schedule.
- Identify correct parts for respective styles to be assembled.
- Count parts to insure proper quantities according to BOM
- Report to Upholstery lines as directed by supervisor to assist in correcting any problems thay may be having (will use own personal vehicle. Reimbursed for mileage)
- Properly stack and tag parts on buggy in accordance to guidelines for maximum quantities as related to safe handling procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized work station.
- Assist others when necessary.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.

- Immediately report any work related injury or illness.
- Keep the work area neat and free of hazards. THE USE OF COMPRESSED AIR WITHOUT PROPER SAFETY NOZZLE IS PROHIBITED FOR CLEAN-UP.
- Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Always ensure proper lifting techniques: avoid bending and twisting at the waist whenever possible.
- Inspect tools and protective equipment before use.
- Learn the hazards of the equipment and procedures used on the job.
- Report any defective, malfunctioning, or suspicious tool, machine, or protective equipment immediately.
- Participate in safety training and safety meetings.
- Report any hazards or risks related to policies or procedures.
