The Pharmacy Technician Trainee plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of Southend Pharmacy under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position assists with preparing, packaging, and labeling medications in compliance with pharmacy policies, state, and federal regulations. The trainee will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic pharmacy environment with opportunities to grow and develop technical skills within the field.

Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician Trainee plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of Southend Pharmacy under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position assists with preparing, packaging, and labeling medications in compliance with pharmacy policies, state, and federal regulations. The trainee will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic pharmacy environment with opportunities to grow and develop technical skills within the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists with the preparation, labeling, and packaging of medications in accordance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) rules and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, inventory, and controlled substances.
- Support inventory control by receiving, counting, and restocking medications and supplies.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean, organized, and compliant with safety and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to all pharmacy quality assurance, safety, and confidentiality policies.
- Communicate effectively with pharmacists, technicians, and other team members to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Participate in training programs and skill development opportunities as part of the Pharmacy Technician Trainee program.
- Promote and maintain cleanliness in sterile IV room per USP 797 standards and company SOP.

Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Active Pharmacy Technician Trainee Registration issued by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a 503A (traditional compounding) or 503B (outsourcing facility) pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with compounding practices, aseptic techniques, or pharmacy software systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining accuracy, compliance, and patient safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or via virtual meeting
- Ability to maintain focus in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms, such as typing.
