Position Summary: Pharmacy Technician/Pharmacy Technician Trainee
A Pharmacist Technician at Katy Memorial Pharmacy will assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. This will include assistance on day-to-day activities including but not limited to providing medications, information, services and other health care products to patients and consumers in a respectful and timely manner. The technician may receive refill request over the phone, obtain health information, perform computer data entry, fill prescriptions, make rounds to neighboring hospital, perform curbside, bedside, home deliveries, assist in maintain proper pharmacy records, maintain proper inventory, assist patients in locating OTC products, ring customers out on cash register, and perform housekeeping of the pharmacy. The technicians must also present themselves in a reputable fashion, as they are an embodiment of the business’ core values of honesty, trust, respect, integrity and safety.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
All responsibilities and duties of a Certified Pharmacy Technician are in accordance with state and federal regulations and may include but are not limited to:
- Prescription data entry into pharmacy software
- Dispensing and counting medications/prescriptions
- Make rounds to hospital and obtain patient data and prescriptions
- Working with insurance companies
- Contacting physicians offices in regards to prescription questions
- Maintain inventory of OTC, Snacks, Drinks, Prescription medications
- Fullfilling shipping request for patients
- Making curbside and home deliveries
- Answer telephones and handle questions in an appropriate manner (follow HIPPA)
- Maintain cleanliness and order within work area
- Keeping registration and certifications current
- Maintaining and completing RX filing
- Undertaking all duties and responsibilities assigned to benefit the operation of the pharmacy
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or older
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board PTCB National Certification (Preferred)
- Bilingual (Preferred)
- 1 year of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical or customer service (Preferred)
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Professional and Courteous Demeanor
- Respectful of confidentiality of patient data
- Problem solving ability
Education Level:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
