Job Summary
The Data Processing Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to, ensuring the seamless and compliant flow of critical information and finances within our compounding pharmacy. This key role manages the accurate entry of prescription details, performs dosage calculations, and oversees all patient and provider billing. Success in this position requires a high degree of precision, strong organizational skills, and exceptional professionalism in handling sensitive data and financial interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and accurately input all prescription and medication data into the pharmacy system, with focused attention on LifeFile.
- Calculate, verify, and document correct dosages based on precise prescription details, ensuring patient safety.
- Manage and process all patient financial transactions, including receiving payments, updating card information, and resolving credit card declines promptly.
- Oversee and process internal billing for established house accounts with clinics and providers.
- Perform rigorous weekly billing audits to confirm all outgoing orders have corresponding payments and to maintain precise, compliant financial records.
- Act as the primary point of contact for patients and providers via phone and email regarding all payment, account, and billing inquiries.
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists and the operations team to swiftly resolve any data discrepancies and ensure overall data integrity.
- Assist with essential operational tasks, including inventory management and tracking medication supplies.
- Uphold strict compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and HIPAA guidelines in every process.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician, registered with either the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
- At least 2 years of professional experience in a pharmacy setting, focusing on data entry, operations, or billing.
- Demonstrated experience (minimum one year) using pharmacy software and data management systems (PMS).
- Exceptional detail-orientation, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to operate accurately and efficiently in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
- Must exhibit punctuality and flexibility to adapt to shifting operational priorities.
- Experience in a compounding pharmacy setting (503A or 503B).
- Advanced proficiency with the LifeFile pharmacy system.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or via virtual meeting
- Ability to maintain focus in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms, such as typing.
- Compensation rate: $19-$22 per hour.
