The City of South Jordan is looking for a Full-Time Parks Maintenance Worker to join our Parks Department. What You'll Do:
- Perform general cleaning, maintenance, and repairs to restrooms, pavilions, playgrounds, ball fields, and other park facilities.
- Operate a variety of equipment including mowers, trimmers, tractors, and snow removal machinery.
- Maintain lawns and landscaped areas by mowing, edging, fertilizing, trimming, pruning, and removing litter.
- Prepare and maintain sports fields for events, including baseball, softball, soccer, and football.
- Assist with irrigation system installation, repair, and seasonal maintenance.
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides safely and effectively.
- Support City events and activities by setting up and maintaining outdoor spaces.
- Participate in on-call and stand-by rotations for snowstorms, emergencies, and other events.
Who You Are:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a valid Utah Class D Driver License.
- Able to obtain a Utah Pesticide Applicators License (Turf & Ornamental) within six months of hire.
- Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Capable of performing physical labor in various weather conditions and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working with tools, machinery, and maintenance chemicals.
- Able to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment.
